Vincent J. Taylor, CID, CAPS, ASID, NKBA, NCIDQ is the founder, owner and president of Eco Nest Interior Design Studio, PLLC. He believes green, eco-friendly and sustainable interiors should be beautiful, because one's home environment is one of the ways, one can establish a sense of personal identity.
Vincent is a certified interior designer (CID) with New York State, a certified aging-in-place specialist (CAPS) with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and certified with the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). He has fifteen years of interior design experience, skills and technical knowledge, from working with tri-state home, co-op and condominium owners. In addition, he worked with co-op/condominiums boards, while an interior designer for a top NYC interior design firm. He also has experience as a interior designer from a residential retail design center. He is a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and a member of the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA). Vincent is currently pursuing his LEED Green Associate accreditation.
Vincent relocated to New York from his home state of North Carolina. An early influence was his father, a stonemason. While in his teenage years, Vincent worked with his father on some of his high-end residential projects in Raleigh, NC. He started collecting books and articles on residential architecture, interior design and home decorating in his teens, thinking he would become an architect.
Vincent received an associate degree in architectural technology from Wake Tech Community College in Raleigh. While working as a draftsman for architectural and engineering firms in Raleigh, he became involved in dance and performing. He decided to change career direction, went back to school to study modern dance at the North Carolina School of the Arts, and received a BFA degree in modern dance. Before coming to New York to perform, he performed with regional modern dance companies outside of New York City. His dance experience helped him to be more aware of how people move through and react to their spatial environment. When he decided to stop performing, he wanted to combine his technical and artistic backgrounds. His New York performing experience indirectly lead him to interior design instead of architecture and he went back to school to study interior design at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City and received his BFA in interior design.
Vincent describes his design style as contemporary, however he is willing and able to mix. For example, he can incorporate your favorite piece of furniture from another style. His goal is to work with homeowners to create a healthy home environment that is beautiful, green, eco-friendly, sustainable and affordable.
